Bare Escentuals Makeup: What it is and how it compares to the SeneGence product line.

A concern was raised by a distributor ....A skin care specialist has recommended to my daughter that she use Bare Escentuals Makeup because she says that SeneGence Products are too thick and will not let her skin breath.

What is the difference between Bare Escentuals and SG products?

Basic Information Regarding Bare Escentuals Makeup:

All of the Bare Minerals powders, whether for foundation, eyeshadow, brow color, or blush, are loose powders that are applied with a brush. The color line is known as i.d., and calls itself, the purest cosmetic collection in the world". The product boasts that they dont contain fragrance, oil, binders, preservatives, emulsifiers, or any other problematic ingredients, but that turns out to not be the case. Bismuth oxychloride is a major ingredient in all the powder formulations and it can cause skin irritations, while the other minerals can be drying. Aside from the overstated claims about "natural this or natural that or purity this or purity that", loose powders are as messy as it gets in terms of your vanity or counter top and your make up bag! The powder will get all over the place. Additionally, while there are softer neutral shades, and some fairly exotic shades as well, all are mildly to extremely shiny and make any amount of wrinkles in the skin look even more so. The face powder does provide some amount of opaque coverage, but the shine and thickness can be a bit much. The eyeshadows and blushes apply in a somewhat lighter way, though they still provide good coverage. If someone likes this type of foundation, Jan Iredales Amazing Base SPF 20 offers a smoother formulation, with an effective sun screen.

The Bare Minerals mineral is talc free, but has cornstarch in it...a no no for acne prone or battling acne types

Bare Minerals may be good for soaking up oils from the face, it does have a sunscreen, but...I dont see any other benefits that it can afford the skin. Just remember, loose powders get all over everything. So everything her face touches will be soiled. It sounds like this skin care specialist does not really know the SG Product line. Share info. You may never be able to "win or convince" this gal and it is not worth worrying about either because...what it boils down to is that we know that we have an exceptional product with scientific data.

If BareMinerals can soak up the oil....Ok....that is something. However, it does nothing to alleviate the problem to begin with...Which is where we begin...with our Skin Care systems.
